Care guide

  • Display out of direct sun: Prolonged, harsh sunlight will fade any print over time. Recommend hanging art away from strong direct light or using UV‑filtered glazing if it must go near a bright window.
  • Avoid humidity and heat: Avoid putting prints in bathrooms, over radiators, and in damp basements. Stable, room‑temperature environments are best for canvas and paper.
  • Dust gently, don’t scrub: For canvas, metal, and acrylic, dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth and light pressure only. No glass cleaner, solvents, alcohol, or household sprays.
  • Handle by the edges: Oils and dirt from fingers can mark paper or canvas. Handle prints by the frame or edges, and refrain from touching the printed surface.
  • Hang securely: Proper hanging hardware prevents falls and edge damage. For larger pieces, use wall anchors or studs for secure hanging.

About the shot.

We found Ainokura by chasing a feeling, not a pin on a map. Tucked among steep, forested slopes in the Gokoyama Region, it felt like the last town on earth. Our gassho-style home belonged to Kuni and his wife, who welcomed us with open arms, feeding us slow, local meals and stories that stitched us into their tiny community. This photograph holds that stillness: the steep thatched roof rising against the valley, a single house standing in for a whole way of life that almost doesn’t seem real anymore.
