Credit card strategy

Spending

As budget non-luxe travellers, we're often looking to stretch every dollar. We use simple, low-fee cards that remove FX (foreign exchange) fees and keep everyday purchases cheap. Added bonus, we rarely need to take out cash.

Insurance

Travel presents big health risks if things go sideways. Credit cards can be a great way get extended health and travel insurance without paying directly for travel insurance. Ideally, look for cards that cover trips over 30 days.

Points

If we’re spending anyway, we might as well get some benefits from it. Choose a rewards program that you will use often and lean into it. Make all your big purchases on this card and watch the points start to pile up.

Our travel credit cards

Although these digital nomad credit cards are specifically for Canadians, our general credit card strategy of finding the best options for spending, insurance, and rewards can be applied anywhere.

Wrap it up!

We've come to find that working remotely can be just as difficult as it is rewarding. In between the vibey cafe and free flowing creative days are stretches of working from your bed, your couch, the bus, or anywhere else you have 15+ minutes to pull your computer out.

Being prepared to work efficiently when nomad life permits is integral to getting even any work done. We're quite proud of the remote office setup we've put together and hope it's helped yours too.
